FACT 18: Water

There was a water main break and my dorm was without water for a good portion of the day on the 18th. I realized how dependent we are on water. We're pretty damn lucky to have it everyday. I decided to inquire about water usage online. I found out that "Public-supply water use has increased steadily since 1950 and accounted for about 11 percent of water use in 2000." AND "the percentage of total irrigation withdrawals from ground water has continued to increase, from 23 percent in 1950 to 42 percent in 2000 (www.nationalatlas.gov)." We really need to watch it!
