FACT 36: The Death of a Language

The last speaker of an ancient language of India's Andaman Islands died at the age of 85. Professor Anvita Abbi said that the death of Boa Sr is rather significant because one of the world's oldest languages has come to an end. Languages in the Andamans are thought to originate from Africa. Some may be 70,000 years old.
