FACT 349: A grizzly attack

December 15th

In Philadelphia in 1855, a grizzly bear was the main attraction at a show at 13th and Market. The bear rampaged the streets for hours claiming the lives of a horse and a mule and some meat hanging in a butcher's shop. The bear was caught by businessmen with pitchforks.
