The microwave was invented when a researcher walked by a radar tube and his chocolate bar melted. Dr. Percy Spencer was testing a new vacuum tube called a magnetron when his candy bar melted in his pocket. Intrigued by this, he placed popcorn kernels near the tube. The kernels began popping all over his lab.
